A small portion of my teaching experience has taken place at two-year community colleges. Listed below are the community colleges where I have taught and information about my teaching experience at each school.

Rio Hondo College - Whittier, CA (1997 - Present)

  • Tenure-Track English Instructor, Division of Communications and Languages

By the end of the 1997 - 1998 academic year, I will have taught the following literature and composition courses:

  • Introduction to the Novel - 1 section
  • Basic Writing - 1 section
  • Intermediate Composition for Developing Writers - 2 sections
  • Approaches to Writing (Freshman Composition) - 4 sections, including a Virtual College online section
  • Advanced Composition - 1 section
  • Writing Workshop - 4 sections

Currently developing Rio Hondo's first online freshman composition course, one of four courses which will launch the Virtual College Associate of Arts degree, beginning Spring 1998.

Participate periodically in assessing placement exams.

Currently serve on the Online Course Criteria subcommittee of the Curriculum Committee, the campus-wide FLEX Committee, and an ad hoc committee to design the Communications Division Web site.

Green River Community College - Auburn, WA (1993 - 1994)

  • Adjunct Lecturer, English Department

Taught the following composition courses:

  • Freshman English - 4 sections
  • Writing for Social Sciences - 1 section
  • GED Preparation (Essay Component) - 1 section
